How to Install a Custom Gauge Face



Installing a custom gauge face can personalize and enhance the interior of your vehicle. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and successful installation:


Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)

  • Plastic trim removal tools

  • Cleaning cloth

  • Mild cleaning solution

  • Tweezers or needle-nose pliers

  • LED backlighting kit (optional)


Step-by-Step Installation Guide:

  1. Preparation:

  • Disconnect the Battery: For safety, disconnect the vehicle’s battery to avoid any electrical issues.

  • Gather Tools: Ensure all necessary tools and materials are within reach.

  1. Remove the Dashboard Cluster:

  • Locate Screws and Fasteners: Use the screwdriver to remove screws and fasteners holding the dashboard trim in place.

  • Remove Trim Panels: Use plastic trim removal tools to gently pry off the dashboard trim panels without damaging them.

  • Access the Cluster: Once the trim is removed, locate and remove the screws securing the gauge cluster to the dashboard.

  1. Remove the Gauge Cluster:

  • Disconnect Wiring: Carefully disconnect any wiring harnesses attached to the back of the gauge cluster.

  • Extract the Cluster: Gently remove the gauge cluster from the dashboard.

  1. Disassemble the Gauge Cluster:

  • Open the Cluster Housing: Depending on the design, use a screwdriver to open the gauge cluster housing.

  • Remove Needles: Using tweezers or needle-nose pliers, gently lift and remove the gauge needles. Take note of their original positions for reassembly.

  • Clean the Surface: Use a mild cleaning solution and cloth to clean the gauge faces, ensuring there is no dirt or residue.

  • Align the Overlay: Align the custom gauge face overlay with the existing gauges to ensure a proper fit.
